HOSA ANNOUNCES NEW HEADSET ADAPTORS

Converting 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm configurations now easier than ever

Buena Park, CA – December 2007... Hosa Technology, the leading innovator of analog and digital connectivity solutions for the modern musician and audio/video professional, is pleased to announce the addition of several new adaptors designed to provide better integration of stereo headphones with mobile phones and smartphones. Whether one is looking to adapt 3.5 mm headphones to 2.5 mm audio outputs or vice versa, Hosa’s GMP-500 Headset Adaptor, the GMP-471 and GMP-467 Headphone Adaptors, along with the YMM-492 Air Travel Headphone Adaptor make the process easy.

Hosa’s GMP-500 Headset Adaptor featuring a 2.5 mm female TRS to 3.5mm male TRS configuration is the latest addition to the company’s growing line of 2.5 mm TRS cables and adaptors. These 2.5 mm TRS jacks, also known as subminiature or “submini” jacks, are common on cell phones, including BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones, due to their diminutive size. The new GMP-500 enables one to connect headsets with 2.5 mm plugs to iPods, other MP3 players, and cell phones/smartphones with 3.5 mm headphone/line-out jacks. Further, the GMP-500 enables one to connect a headset with a 2.5 mm plug to the 3.5 mm headphone/line-out jacks found on most late model airliners.

As there are many cell phones/smartphones with 2.5 mm headphone/line-out jacks, Hosa’s new GMP-471 Headphone Adaptor is the answer to yet another common interface issue. Designed to interface 2.5 mm headphone/line-out jacks with standard 3.5 mm headphones, the GMP-471 is the opposite of the GMP-500 (3.5 mm female TRS – 2.5 mm male TRS). Additionally, Hosa offers the GMP-467 Headphone Adaptor. Functionally identical to the GMP-471, the GMP-467 Headphone Adaptor is a 3.5 mm female TRS – 2.5 mm male TRS right-angle adaptor to facilitate those occasions where a straight adaptor may not be ideal due to space or other considerations.

While perhaps not as common in North America as in other parts of the world, many international airliners still utilize individual 3.5 mm outputs for left and right channels—making it impossible to connect late model headphones. For the world traveler who has encountered this situation, Hosa has the answer—the new YMM-492 Air Travel Headphone Adaptor. This handy adaptor makes it a cinch to sum the individual left and right 3.5 mm outputs of the plane to a 3.5 mm TRS female receptacle—facilitating easy connection of stereo earbuds and other headsets using the common 3.5mm TRS male plug.

Jonathan Pusey, Hosa Technology’s National Marketing Manager, commented on the company’s new 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm adaptors. “Until now, finding a suitable adaptor to interface 2.5 mm devices with 3.5 mm headphones—or vice versa—has been a challenging issue. All too often, these adaptors were only available through specialty retailers, and frequently the prices for these adaptors has bordered on highway robbery. Hosa’s new GMP-500 Headset Adaptor, GMP-471 and GMP-467 Headphone Adaptors, along with the YMM-492 Air Travel Headphone Adaptor rectify this situation—providing easy connectivity and reasonable pricing for countless numbers of music enthusiasts in the process.”
